Sidewalk and Street Repair

Sidewalks

City ordinance mandates that property owners replace defective, unsafe, or hazardous sidewalks and drive approaches.

The City of Dallas offers a Sidewalk Replacement Program, splitting sidewalk replacement costs 50/50 with property owners. After inquiring, expect a property assessment and quote by mail within 2-3 months. Completion takes 3-9 months from payment, depending on demand. Hazardous sidewalks qualify for temporary asphalt repairs; request these by calling (214) 670-3111. To join the cost share program for sidewalk replacement, contact the City at (214) 948-4127 or (214) 948-4287.

For drive approaches, property owners are responsible for 100% of removal and replacement costs.

Street and Alley Repairs

The City of Dallas Department of Public Works handles street and alley repairs. Eligible repairs will be addressed through street maintenance. To report repair needs, call City Services Dispatch at 3-1-1. Specify if the issue is hazardous to trigger an immediate emergency crew response.

Curb repair or replacement is performed only for hazardous curbs or when curb displacement causes significant standing water issues. Report concerns by calling 3-1-1. The Department of Public Works will assess the need for repair.
